Advocacy

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever does”
    ~Margaret Mead~

The Fragile X Association of Michigan continues to play an active role in national policy through the Advocacy Day efforts of the National Fragile X Foundation.  For the seventh straight year FXAM, along with resource groups from around the country, sent advocates to Washington, D.C. to meet with members of congress to support the legislative advocacy efforts of the NFXF.  These efforts include additional funding to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for the Fragile X Clinical & Research Consortium, Department of Defense (DoD) and National Institute of Health (NIH) Appropriations Report Language, and support for the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act of 2009.

Fragile X Advocacy Day 2010 has been scheduled!  Mark your calendars for March 2-3, 2010.
